Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
