Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents his first championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from spring of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 different events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on court had led observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet saved 4 initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
